The curriculum - what we teach - is central to all that we do in schools. A clear overview of what a school intends its children to learn gives teachers the best starting point for planning their own lessons. A well-thought-through and clearly-documented curriculum gives school leaders peace of mind as they can be more confident of what is being taught in classrooms. Getting the curriculum right can be tricky though. With so many different subjects to cover and so much potential content to be taught, it isn't always easy to make decisions about what should be included to ensure that children at your school get the best education possible. Throughout his time working in schools, Aidan has developed a deep interest in curriculum and has led a number of subjects including computing, art, maths and reading before leading on the implementation of the latest iteration of the national curriculum. On becoming a deputy head, he oversaw and developed the entire primary curriculum and revamped the KS3 curriculum. Aidan knows that when designing a curriculum, both pedagogy and the science of learning must be taken into account and he matches this to his experience of developing curriculum in several different contexts. The bespoke curriculum development offer is a remote service which involves Aidan creating curriculum documentation based on your school’s specifications and context. This service covers all areas of the primary curriculum and may focus on one single subject, or several subjects together.
